Post-punk uses punk as a kaleidoscope with which to look at the world, a pretext for discovering and mixing with other sounds (and hence other worlds). In Canzoni Per Bambini (Songs for Children), Datura S. sets off on a journey that begins in the north-eastern Italian province – with its increasingly disused chimneys, its stray cats and its witches – and goes out to explore what is outside of it. Proud and strong in its roots (the reference to The Great Complotto is explicit) as it is eager to confront what the world has to offer in its many facets.

Musically, this is a journey that takes Datura S. eastwards and southwards, exploring the sounds of Eastern European new wave and the arabesque melodies of the Mediterranean. The result is a contemporary, intimate new wave: dreamy, melancholic, sometimes straight and danceable, sometimes to be listened to with your eyes closed while the summer wind blows on the boiling asphalt.
Emotionally, this is a journey into the depths of the rotten province as experienced by stubborn young punks, from which Datura S. returns with a wounded positivity. Reborn like a phoenix from the ruins of the Pordenone punx utopian state of Naon, Canzoni per Bambini is an invitation to a new beginning: “Let us meet here again, with our feet on the ruins”.
